![]() The Q&A also addressed the role and importance of crafters, emphasizing that those players will be able to generate basic materials from their land and that they'll "contribute majorly" to battles. When Camelot Unchained ran out of crowdfunding money, Mark Jacobs did something unusual by today's standards: he put his hand in his own pocket and paid for development himself. Being delayed was developer City State Entertainment's fault so why should the community foot the bill? Camelot Unchained didn't begin offering houses or castles or spaceships (let's call them horses) for real money, didn't become an intoxicating shopping mall for pledging support. "It hurt," Mark Jacobs told me on the phone. He had already added $2 million of his own to the game's $2.2m Kickstarter tally to get the game made, but that was back in 2013, when Jacobs was talking optimistically about a 2015 Camelot Unchained release. He didn't realise programmers would be like gold dust and near impossible to find he didn't realise the game's ability system would fail and need rebuilding and he couldn't predict his wife would battle with breast cancer. ![]() $4.5m only took a team of 30 people so far. "It hurt my bank account a lot because I wasn't a billionaire or super-rich by any standard," he said. "But look, I made a deal, and I told backers I would do it. It was on us as a development team to deliver the game we did not. I made a choice and it wasn't an easy one: do I honour our commitment to those same people who gave us this chance by not treating them as walking wallets, or not? The bottom line is we did not meet what our projections were. "I understand why these other games do it but that was not for me. That's not how I wanted to live my life and run this studio. There were some very strong arguments to be made that if people are willing to spend the money, you should try to get it from them. I want to treat gamers the way I want to be treated. There's a better way to do things." Spells and animations and environments are not finished, but look how many people are fighting. Jacobs' way was to - in a deal only announced yesterday - secure $7.5m to finish Camelot Unchained. Even if we didn't get a single other penny from crowdfunded donations, we'd be fine to get this game out," he said. Incidentally, Jacobs has known the investors for decades and nothing operationally will change. Now, the plan is to do a Camelot Unchained beta this year, with battleground brawls - Saturday night sieges as they're known - from the spring. "We are also shooting for a release in 2019 if - and it's a giant if - we can hire enough programmers," he said. "If we can, I am very confident we can deliver this game in '19. It may be late in '19 but I think we can deliver it."Īs it stands, Camelot Unchained looks a long way off. What videos there are resemble technical demonstrations of lots of characters running around in one big field there's no discernible game, with a shape and direction, on display. The core promise of Camelot Unchained was always to have hundreds - if not thousands - of people fighting in huge three-way wars, with no server crashes and slideshow game performance. You’ll find the video right after the jump. The videos show Camelot Unchained partially achieving that. You might also want to check out the first Q&A session with City State co-founder Mark Jacobs where he also talks about the siege feature testing. You’ll find the full list of changes on the Camelot Unchained official site. ![]() Meanwhile, the fellas over at City State is hard at work to crank out new updates including a new siege scenario test map, improvements to siege engine equipment, lighting effects, animations, new classes, and skill icons. Many scenarios were played, bugs were found, fun was had! In other words: lots of progress as lots of new Backers had their first look at V0.1 of our Saturday Night Siege scenario.” “While this is still very much a work in progress, it’s been awesome to see players deploy siege engines against our fully destructible castle while its defenders scrambled to keep the walls up! Watching towers crumble and fall, sometimes in wacky ways, was always entertaining! A feeling that Camelot Unchained beta testers will probably be familiar with as they test out the game’s “Saturday Siege Night” scenario last week. There’s probably nothing more satisfying in a medieval fantasy game than seeing a castle’s walls crumble with a well-placed catapult or trebuchet shot. I haven't tried getting people to move stuff from hub to random system much though. and usually random system to hub will get picked up for not much. hub to hub packages get picked up for almost nothing. FW should provide some basic income, and you can get people to courier contract stuff around. Imo tiles are too big to be of use for individual systems, they are good for getting a glance of the eve universe as a whole, but a bit impractical for route planning.Īs far as surviving while at war, imo not too hard. afaik it is the same route either way from jita amarr. Forgot to set my autopilot to safe/shortest. luckily I was in a travel fit frig and made it out no problem. Make it a few jumps and guess where I end up, if you said the lowsec system with a camp that I just died to you would be right. From there it is a quick route back to jita. Got someone to give me a warp to a wormhole out of thera and into amarr lowsec, so I headed back to amarr to grab a ship. Oops my med station is in thera, I want to get this clone back to Jita. Since it was an empty clone and clones don't cost anything I figured I'd just let them pod me. Now on the gate out of lowsec I went through a camp, turns out my route back into lowsec went right through that camp, a destroyer doesn't really run a camp very well. well I did end up making it to amarr, and then turning around to go back into lowsec. I was flying late night on a destroyer roam and know that going from jita to amarr with preferences set on lowsec can be a decent route. (I think if you set a route directly to a system it can't avoid that system)Īlso recent story where autopilot settings a) got me killed, b) nearly got me killed again: The jita nightmares from the olden days are rarely a problem, although they did build stargates that go around jita, so maybe leaving that on avoid isn't the worst of ideas. Personally I don't have any systems on avoidance. getting a really funky route unexpectedly, or finding out your route is 22 jumps, where your friends route is 8 jumps Or even just pass through them at some point. That's not a good idea cause sometime in the future you might wanna go to those systems. I'm not talking about placing them on the 'Avoidance' list. Even a few sinister glowing skulls with red eyes would’ve helped a little. ![]() You could play the whole of the game with a Dualshock 4, it’s only Sony’s requirement that PS5 games utilise the new controller that stops you doing so.Īlong with the underused controller functions, our main gripe with SotN:EE was the seventh chapter. We concede that this is a port of an existing game, so to retrofit the game with the speaker being used for example would be a big ask, especially for an indie dev with limited resources. ![]() Regards the Dualsense, we don’t get the feeling that the game utilised even a fraction of the functions available in the API. But there was no let up until we got to the end of a chapter and we called it a night. It may have been a glitch, we don’t know. But we’d recommend you didn’t as until you get into the fourth chapter and the areas really affected by the crimson pestilence, you’ll frequently find yourself enjoying the beautiful Icelandic vistas on offer here.Įven they are pretty enough, just tinged in red and for some reason making our Dualsense vibrate like mad. If you’re not collecting staffs for shamans, you might well be able to tear through all eight chapters on offer here in fairly short order. In conjuction with jump gates you’ll find yourself flung across the landscape enroute to your ultimate destination. Your final ability and perhaps the most useful is Spirit Dash. Handily each chapter shows whether you’ve missed any shamans on the level select screen, so it’s straightforward to mop up if you’re a completist and want to get your second platinum on your PS5. They serve no function besides looking pretty, but it’s nice to see different looks. As you unlock them, you’ll gain the ability to select new skins for your fox. On occasion they’ll open up doors for you, but they’re just a collectible really. In fairly short order you’ll unlock Spirit Form yourself and in doing gain the ability to activate pressure pads with your corporeal form and send off your spirit to do your bidding, usually activating a standing stone just in the nick of time.Īs well as finding your way to the ultimate source of the pestilence, you’ll awaken shaman spirits by finding wooden staffs and reuniting them with a nearby desiccated corpse. It has the effect of destroying plague tethers which are the source of the pestilence that has turned out the northern lights. After a little while you’ll unlock Spirit Bark, which is just what it says. These have the effect of opening doors and raising water levels amongst other things. Practically this means you can get spirit energy from blue glowing flowers and transfer it to standing stones and ancient murals. So says the trophy description anyway and that’s literally all the narrative we have to go on. We don’t know.įor reasons, you end up infused with pure ancient energy. That’s not a bad thing at all, as it would’ve been far too easy to make this yet another open world brawler where you fought off evil arctic hares or something. As a result, in the opening stages at least, Spirit of the North is very much a contemplative affair. You see, there’s zero dialogue or plot exposition here. She’s a female spirit fox and uses her feminine wiles to seduce you.Īt least that’s the interpretation you can choose to take. Eventually you’ll find your way into an icy catacomb and awaken the titular Spirit of the North. Though initially you’ll have little idea as to what you’re actually supposed to do. ![]() So for that alone, we understand why you’re a more typical red fox.Īfter a while running around gloriously realised snowdrifts, you’ll realise that you’d best get on with the matter at hand. The context would make more sense if you were playing as an arctic fox, but then you’d be veering very close stylistically to the rather more plot driven Never Alone. You’re a red fox which makes the contrast on white snow all the more stark. Admittedly it’s helped by the fact that snow is beautiful at the outset. We didn’t review the original PS4 game so this version came to us with fresh eyes just in time for our having got a PS5. But if I could pay a flat fee $20 up $50 a month just for that feature (ideally $25) I would pay to keep my team's contact details private and limit use of DM between each other and clients so I can add clients and team members to one channel and limit what my clients can do and DM. For paid, because I work with such a large team it would be too expensive to upgrade. I don't need my clients contacting everyone directly or vise versa. I have to create several Slack accounts for different teams/clients. Because each user has a profile with contact details, it prevents me from mixing my teams together with other teams and clients. I love all the free features it comes with but it be great if I have more privacy features for my team and clients. We use it every day and a lot of my clients are now using it too. This is a game changer for my digital marketing agency. Perhaps starring these most used channels could help. So sorry it’s taken so long! With regards to channel sorting, apologies that the scientific method is not reflecting how you use Slack. We do not have an ETA to share, but we do have dark mode on our radar. If I reply to a message in a channel it usually drops to the bottom of the list. My most common channel usually makes it to position 1 or 2, but the rest are all over the list, Channels I have never posted to show up higher than ones I use most every day. And those with unread or tagged messages filtered higher to the top. All I want is the channels I use most frequently at the top. The “scienfific” ordering bears absolutely no resemblance to how I use the channels. Second is the channel ordering on the sidebar. Yeah, far as I know it’s been “on the radar” for years. Update: Slack got back to me stating this is on their radar. Older versions of slack could be hacked to display better, why not the latest? Seriously, this looks like amateur hour. Seriously, how hard is it to adjust the style sheet? I’ve read that Slack is just a glorified Chrome app. One annoying bit is the lack of a dark theme for the main message area. Nice feature to delete messages and it archives shared images and docs automatically. Plenty of useful things within the threads or PMs. Overall Slack is a good messaging/chat/sharing app. Good chat app, just a few annoying things Interesting idea about "sleeping" a workspace! You've given us some great food for thought here- thanks for sharing this with us! This would primarily be used for chats of lower priority than others. disable background updates for those groups until I explicitly “un-sleep” it. Would love to be able to “sleep” less important chats e.g. For someone like me, who uses Slack for 9 different groups, having each of those chats actively run leads to each spinning up a Slack Helper process that consumes a fair amount of CPU. One thing I would LOVE to see is the ability to “sleep” a group, so that it didn’t have to be always running in the background. ![]() Didn’t have this issue before so I’m sure this is an optimization they just need to make. The HK416 is often the mascot of system only gunning, and is incredibly popular among the competitive scene, despite it's lower stats compared to what limited event items have today. The Lollipop skin is available from the theme chest and is colourful green skin. It features a red, white, and green body skin. The Carnival skin is themed on Christmas, and was available for a limited time for free. The Silver and Gold skins are available in the Battle Pass by spending 35 and 70 Exchange Coins for the Silver and Gold skin separately. The HK has four skins, Silver, Gold, Carnival and Lollipop. To read more about the HK416, see: Heckler & Koch 416 In game, the design is based off of the HK416 A5 model of the rifle It is the standard rifle of use in the Norweigian Armed Forces. It is based on the AR-15 family of assault rifles, using a proprietary piston used by the G36. The Heckler and Koch (HK) 416 is an assault rifle manufactured by Heckler and Koch in 2004. The HK is worth the reforging and leveling up if you are a system rifle user. Other buffs like reload and clips also are surprisingly useful, due to the already decent reload stat and low clip count.Įnchanted cards like balance strike, continuous shot, and long range strike benefit the HK massively, and make the weapon a reliable, constant three shot (two if armour power is maximised). For example, a 10 accuracy, 12 fire rate, and 8 power set would make it have 51 power, 120 fire rate, and 90 accuracy. The balanced stats of the HK make it excellent for armor configurations, because even if you have a maximum amount of one stat, it never reaches excessive or worthless amounts. The low clip count makes constant prefire undesirable, and other weapons could be used instead. Tap fire is also a good choice, and is better for pre-fire than holding the fire button. It can also be used against trickier distanced opponents while standing still, which reduces the inaccuracy of weapons shot while moving. The weapon's great accuracy and power makes it great against distanced players who are not hiding behind a wall the weapon is excellent at combat out in the open. The HK416 is popular with system only gunners, and can be seen in rooms like Death Platform or remakes of it's older versions. The Abyss Lord RX is an uncommon but even stronger alternative to the HK416, only obtainable in Zombie Mode. It may be used as a free to play alternative to a limited edition rifle obtained by gacha mechanics like the Undercurrent or Savior AR, the latter being much stronger. It would also be capable of a one shot headshot. With cards, it can maintain a 3 shot at higher ranges, and possibly 2 shot at extemes. The HK is a solid three or four shot kill when maxed out, and performs excellent with armour, with accuracy, fire rate, and power buffs all being useful to the weapon. Unlike the FAMAS, it has a higher effective range, above the minimum allowed for a workshop custom weapon. It's lower accuracy of 80 is up for preference, however the FAMAS is much faster. The FAMAS is considered an alternative to the HK416, which was released in December 2019. It's accuracy at the time was very high, with 80, the HK's accuracy, being considered the amount for good accuracy stats. The HK is considered one of the better store rifles when upgraded to the maximum level, next to the FAMAS. The HK416 is a popular, store-bought, and well balanced rifle that has good accuracy, great power, and decent fire rate at the expense of a low clip count. ![]() Of all the big SUVs in the Land Rover range, the Disco has always been its most resolutely agricultural.
